Watts family neighbor Nathan Trinastick's security camera captures Nickole Utoft's (Shan’ann's friend) vehicle leaving the Watts home after dropping Shan’ann off from the airport. 2 AM - Chris says Shan’ann went to bed.
4 AM - Chris tells Det. Baumhover this is when he awoke and he and Shan’ann had an "emotional" discussion regarding his desire to separate. He tells police that after leaving their bedroom, he returns to observe, via a baby monitor in the girls' room, Shan’ann Watts attacking their daughters. He tells police that he strangled his wife to death in a fit of rage.
5 AM - Chris tells Officer Coonrod that Shan’ann got home around 2 AM, he got up at 5 AM, had emotional conversation with Shan’ann, says he initiated marital separation.
5:15 AM - [Neighbor] Bette Marcoux, who lives next to the Watts' home, said she noticed that Christopher Watts' truck was on when she left for the gym early Monday. 5:27 AM - Watts family neighbor Nathan Trinastich's surveillance camera captures Christopher Watts backing his truck into the driveway and going back into the house and out to the truck three times, likely as he loads the bodies. Chris initially tells police that he loaded up tools and left for work while his wife and children were still sleeping. Two days later, he admits to loading their bodies into the truck and later dumping them in an oilfield northwest of Hudson.

10 AM - Shan’ann missed scheduled OBGYN appointment.
Chris texted Nichol Kessinger to say that he had been busy. The two chatted like normal throughout the workday.
Chris made three phone calls in the morning. One to the girls' school saying that he wanted to un-enroll his daughters. One to a Realtor to discuss selling his house. One to his girlfriend to talk about their future.
12:20 PM - Friend Nickole Utoft shows up at Watts family home because Shan’ann wasn’t responding to her calls or messages. Safety lock is locked on front door from the inside, Shan’ann’s vehicle is in the garage. She calls Chris then calls police to do wellness check.
1:40 PM - Officer Coonrod arrives at residence for welfare check. Officer Coonrod contacts Chris and asks for garage keypad code. Chris says it doesn't work but will be there in about 5 minutes.
3:45 PM - Chris Watts texted Nichol Kessinger that his family was “gone”. He told Nichol that Shan'ann had taken the girls to a playdate and had not returned. He seemed casual and didn’t show any emotion.
Shan’ann, Bella and Celeste Watts are reported missing.

7 AM - A Frederick police detective, upon learning that neither Shan'ann Watts nor the girls had returned home, requests that a press release about their status as missing be sent out and seeks assistance from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and ultimately the FBI.
While at work, Nichol Kessinger texted Chris Watts, pushing him to tell what he knew about their disappearance and asking what he had done.
10:19 AM - The Town of Frederick, CO releases a statement: "Missing Persons - Be On the Lookout - On August 13, 2018, the Frederick Police Department was notified of 3 missing persons. Shanann Watts 34 years old, and her two daughters that are 3 and 4 years old are missing as well. Shanann is also 15 weeks pregnant. There is no vehicle associated at this time. In a flurry of long calls and texts that night between Chris Watts and Nichol Kessinger, Chris changed his story about his split with his wife. Nichol barraged Chris with questions: Were there signs someone had forced themselves into the home? Were the daughters’ car seats still there? Was one of the girls’ EpiPens still in the house? Chris didn’t show any emotion during their conversations and tried to change the subject away from his missing family.

4:15 PM - Police investigators start a drone search of the oil and gas site where they believed the bodies of Shanann, Bella and Celeste Watts to be located. The oil site is identified as CERVI 319 with GPS coordinates 40.21624374 -104.36667. Chris Watts' work truck had a GPS device that allowed police to track where he went after he left his home the morning his family disappeared. Investigators were able to use that to find where he disposed of the bodies. They were able to narrow down their search and locate the bodies following his confession. Police spot a bed sheet matching the pattern of several pillow cases and a top sheet recovered from a kitchen trash can in the Watts' home earlier that day. ⦁ November 6, 2018 (Tuesday) - 2PM - Christopher Lee Watts pleaded guilty to all nine counts against him, including five counts of murder in the first degree, three counts of tampering with a deceased human body, and one count of unlawful termination of a pregnancy, in the deaths of his wife, Shan'ann Watts, and their daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, whose bodies were found on the property of an oil and gas company where Christopher Watts worked in August 2018. The plea deal includes a sentencing agreement that Christopher Watts will be sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison. The plea deal was made with the support of Shan'ann Watts’ family. They were very strongly in favor of a resolution in this case short of the death penalty. Weld County District Attorney Michael Rourke Rourke recounted a conversation with Shan'ann Watts' mother, Sandra Rzucek, that helped make the decision. "Sandy said it very, very poignantly to me. She said, 'he made the choice to take those lives. I do not want to be in a position of making the choice to take his.'" In court Tuesday, Watts was wearing a bulletproof vest and wept between pleas. Shan'ann's family was sitting in the front row of the courtroom as Watts pleaded guilty.

⦁ November 13, 2018 (Tuesday) - In response to the interviews Chris Watts' parents, Cindy and Ronnie Watts, gave to the media the day before, Shan'ann Watts' family released a statement via Michael J. Newman VanCamp of Meacham & Newman, the law firm representing the Rzucek family. Their statement reads:

“Shan'ann Watts was a faithful wife, and the most gentle and loving mother in the world to her children Bella, Celeste, and Nico. She was also the best daughter any parent could ever hope for. Shan'ann was a wonderful soul.

Everyone who knew Shanann knows this to be true. Even Chris Watts knows this to be true. Yet Chris Watts still chose to murder Shan'ann, Bella, Celeste, and Nico. Chris Watts still chose to dump the bodies of his own family in oil tanks. And Chris Watts still chose to lie about it until he could lie no more. He pled guilty to murdering his family because he is guilty.

Monday evening, the parents of Chris Watts gave an interview in which they attempted to defend their son. In doing so, they felt the need to make vicious, grotesque and utterly false statements about Shan'ann. Their false statements, however hurtful and inaccurate, will never alter the truth about Shan'ann, and will never alter the truth about the crimes committed by their son, Chris Watts.

Shan'ann’s memory and reputation deserves to be protected. And her family is fully prepared to do so.”
